Employee of the Year!

Town employees are given the opportunity to nominate a Town employee that exemplifies great customer service, who is passionate about helping our community and its citizens, and who is an amazing representative for the Town of Landis. This year’s Employee of the Year received several nominations from different departments throughout the town.

Our 2023 Employee of the Year is…….

Chris England

Journeyman Lineman, Chris has been a journey lineman with the Town of Landis for 2 years with 10 years of experience with power line work. He has received his journey lineman certification from the Department of Labor. He also has the following certifications, Substation Operations, NC DOT Flagger Instructor, OSHA 10 ET and D, OSHA 10 General Construction, NC Firefighter 1 and 2, Haz-Mat level 1, Driver Operatory Pump’s, Driver Operator EVD, and NC Fire Chief 101. Chris’s goals include improving the power grid for the Town of Landis and one day becoming the Public Works Director. His hobbies and interests include being a dad, fishing, hunting, and spending time on the lake. Chris’ hometown is High Rock, NC.

Town leadership is given the opportunity to nominate one of their fellow members that exemplify outstanding leadership abilities, who is passionate about helping our community and its citizens, and who is an amazing representative for the Town of Landis.

Our 2023 Leadership Team Member of the Year is …….

Joe Halyburton

Joe Halyburton has served the Town of Landis since 2007 and has enjoyed a career as an Electrical Lineman for over twenty-nine years. After joining the Town of Landis as a Class A Lineman, Joe was promoted to Electrical Supervisor. In July 2021, Joe was promoted to the Town of Landis Public Works Director, where he oversees the daily operations of the Electrical, Water & Sewer, and Street Departments. Joe completed his N.C. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Power Line Tech 2 program in 2004. He also completed the Electricities Lineman Career Development Program Level 2. Joe has attended Advanced Lineman and Transformer school. Joe is dedicated to ensuring the citizens of Landis have uninterrupted power, water, and sewer services. When asked what he enjoys most about working for Landis he stated “Linemen just enjoy keeping the lights on.”
