Employee of the Year!
Town employees are given the opportunity to nominate a Town employee that exemplifies great customer service, who is passionate about helping our community and its citizens, and who is an amazing representative for the Town of Landis. This year’s Employee of the Year received several nominations from different departments throughout the town.
Our 2024 Employee of the Year is…….
Buddy Porter Sr.
Buddy Porter Sr. has been in law enforcement for 51 years. He started his career as a Military Police Officer with the United States Marine Corps. He worked with the Spencer Police Department as well as the China Grove Police Department. He moved on to work for the State of North Carolina as a fugitive officer running the bloodhounds. Later, he worked for Rowan County on patrol, where he met his wife, Linda. They have been married for over 31 years. He served as Sergent over the civil division for Rowan County before coming to work for the Landis Police Department in 2000. In 2024, Buddy was promoted to Sergeant with the Landis Police Department. Both he and his wife attend Highest Praise Family Worship Center where they are very active members. Buddy serves as head of security there as well as being on the Pastor’s Council. Buddy has always been very dedicated to the town and the people of Landis. He loves the people of this town along with those he works with. He is always there for not only our town but also our citizens. Buddy has always remained very dependable and someone we can all count on to have our back.
